        RESEARCH CONFERENCES

From summer 2023, through Allegheny College's student-faculty research program, with Professor Ishita Sinha Roy Bintou Fofana has used TJGS as a case study to delve into Gen Z's media habits, especially their political skepticism and activism. Particularly examining how Gen Z utilizes political podcasting for education and activism, and its significance in contemporary politics, especially regarding upcoming elections. Arguing that political fatigue has driven Gen Z to create their participatory cultures, opting for peer-curated, authentic sources. They seek autonomy in learning and advocacy, using digital platforms for diverse self-expression. Research suggests Gen Z prefers horizontally structured environments, fostering participation and valuing peer involvement. Fofana explore podcasting as a tool for creative activism and education among politically engaged Gen Z prosumers. Drawing from the A.I.D.A model and auto-ethnographic methods, demonstrate how TJGS podcast moves students from awareness to action on global issues. Similar projects show Gen Z's nuanced understanding of political engagement, embracing various pathways for involvement. This research was presented at the National Undergraduate Research Conference and at the Penn State Behrend Sigma Xi Undergraduate Research and Creative Accomplishment where Fofana won second place for her presentation in the social humanities division.
